Court Filing Fees Charged In Los Angeles | Orange County As Of October 22, 2021
The following court Fees are relevant to the cases filed by our office and should be taken into account when budgeting for your legal matter. Filing fees have changed somewhat and you should use the links at the bottom of the page for the current fees required by the L.A. and Orange County courts.
Fees Divorce | Family Law | Name Change | Domestic Violence | Restraining Orders
The first appearance fee, usually when a Petition or Response is filed, is now $465(includes $30 court reporter fee(not required today, 4/8/23, in Los Angeles County, but anticipated to be reinstated)) in Los Angeles and Orange County. This is true for Filing a Dissolution (divorce & domestic partnership), Separation, Paternity and when Filing a Petition for Change of Name or Gender.
Fees for Motions and Orders to Show Cause
The fee for Filing an Order to Show Cause or Motion is currently $60 . You will also be charged a $30 (not required in Los Angeles County today, 4/8/23, but anticipated to be reinstated) court Reporter fee for a total of $90. There is an additional $25 fee if the Order to Show Cause is to modify or enforce custody.
The cost for Filing a stipulation and order not requiring a hearing or stipulated request for continuance is $20Â There is no fee for a stipulation without an order – as long as both parties have previously appeared.

Petition to Prevent Workplace Violence (involving violence, threats of violence, or stalking) and Response – No Fee
Petition to Prevent Workplace Violence (Other) – $435
Court Reporter, Interpreter, Witness Fees For Trials and other Hearings.
Court Reporter per Diem Fees – Full Day – $764
Court Reporter per Diem Fees – Half Day (over 1 hour) – $382
Court Reporter fee (one hour or less) – $30
Certified/Registered Interpreter Obtained from LASC Court Interpreter Services, per hour or Portion Thereof – $76
Advance Witness Fee For Peace Officer, Court, State or Municipal Agency Employee – $150
Certified Copies and Copying Fees
Certifying a Copy of Paper, Record, or Proceeding on File – $40
176 Certificate for which Fee is not otherwise fixed; includes lis Pendens – $25
